A simple hidden variable experiment

An experiment is described which proves, using single photons only, that the standard hidden variables assumptions (commonly used to derive Bell inequalities) are inconsistent with quantum mechanics. The analysis is very simple and transparent.

A scaling algorithm for polynomial constraint satisfaction problems

Good scaling is an essential requirement for the goodbehavior ofmanynumerical algorithms. In particular, for problems involving multivariate polynomials, a change of scale in one or more variable may have drastic effects on the robustness of subsequent calculations. This paper surveys scaling algorithms for systems of polynomials from the literature, and discusses some newones, applicable to ar...

Reviewing the general representation of a stochastic local hidden variables theory in the context of an ideal Bohm's version of the EPR experiment, we show explicitly that the violation of Bell's locality condition is due to the assumption of " outcome independence " at the hidden variables level. Also, we show that if we introduce determinism, the assumption of outcome independence will be all...

It is shown that Bell’s counterfactuals admit joint quasiprobability distributions (i.e. joint distributions exist, but may not be nonnegative). A necessary and sufficient condition for the existence among them of a true probability distribution (i.e. non-negative) is Bell’s inequalities. This, in turn, is a necessary condition for the existence of local hidden variables. The treatment is amena...

This project creates foundations for an automatic system that combines the reliability and speed of a computer with the ability to perform at the level of a good mathematics student. The acronym MATHRESS abbreviating the project title, which may be pronounced “mattress”, indicates that the project serves to provide a good, comfortable foundation for the development of an automatic mathematical ...
